Encapsulating a Crawl Space After Humidity, Odors, and Moisture Spread Through ENTIRE Home in Marmora, NJ
Challenge
The homeowner, Anna, had purchased this Marmora home in the summer of 2020. At that time, the crawl space had been dripping water from appliances like the air conditioner and the heater. This had caused the space to be extremely moist and humid. The moisture problem became so bad, that the entirety of the house developed a humidity and moisture problem, causing windows to drip water and surfaces to feel wet. Furthermore, the moisture caused the house to smell, and create moldy odors.
The homeowner stated, "The smell is beyond horrible. Everything in the house smells."
Solution
Our team fixed this issue by tackling the source: the crawl space.
Our crew encapsulated the entire space with our CleanSpace vapor barriers with drainage matting underneath, effectively working around appliances as well. Rim Joist insulation was also installed, along with our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to regulate and maintain moisture and humidity within the crawl space. This dehumidifier was also connected to a condensate pump. To give the space a better and more-secure entryway, we have also installed our vinyl "Turtl" entrance system.
These measures all efficiently work together to ensure the space and the home are dry and healthy.
