Some of the reasons for cracks in your foundation wall will be natural settlement in your walls. You also have the freeze/thaw cycle so, we live in New Jersey, it gets really, really cold outside but also it gets warm. So as the temperatures rise and fall, your concrete actually moves with that- expands and contracts and can cause cracks. We also have seasons of rain and drought seasons so if you have a wet particular season you have more pressure on your walls and then when it dries out the ground contracts back and your concrete can move that way.
