Water Signs
Don't finish your basement if you see signs of moisture or water along your walls or your floor. This problem can lead to mold growth if ignored and your basement may even flood in the future.
Outdated Sump Pump
This was the homeowner's previous sump pump. It can't keep up with the amount of water coming into the basement. Sump pumps like these are cheap and tend to get clogged. They can't usually handle a high amount of water, and that is a problem depending on where you live.
Floor Crack
You can see the large crack on the floor in this basement. The water was partially coming in through here. We like to recommend floating floors for finished basements so that if water ever does come from the floor, your flooring won't get ruined. For this, we install ThermalDry floor tiles that don't grow mold and are easy to install. The crack in this home was sealed, of course, but we still recommend the floor tiles in case the problem ever comes up again.
