Damp Crawl Space Repaired In Seaville New Jersey
Challenge
High humidity and an ineffective waterproofing system have caused this home in Seaville New Jersey, to experience a flooding and mold problem in its crawl space. When Troy, our System Designer, arrived at the property, he noted that the water had at least risen to the first block judging by the waterline. (See Attached) Due to the damp environment and hot summer days, the crawl space experienced a high relative humidity which caused mold to grow on the wooden floor joists. This weakened their structural integrity and caused them to sag. If not addressed, the home may begin to experience issues such as the floors starting to sink or doors/windows getting stuck when they are opened or closed. Troy finished his inspection and recommend that a new pumping system be put into place along with a full encapsulation of the crawl space. This will help control humidity levels and seepage problems. Troy also recommended that the support of the floor joist be put into place to prevent further sagging.
Solution
The Dry Guys team replaced the home's original sump pump with our patented TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This includes two powerful Zoeller pumps and a battery backup system so that it stays running during power outages. The crawl space was fully encapsulated with our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier. This product is specifically designed to stop moisture from passing through to the crawl space from the dirt floor. Our SilverGlo Insulation Panels were installed on the walls of the crawl space to keep the cold out and the heat in during the winter. The crawl space door was also refitted with our Turtle Entry Well. This is an airtight well that is made of a rigid plastic design that will hold up to daily wear and tear. Its rigid plastic design ensures that it will never rot, rust, or need paint. To keep the crawl space dry and cool, a SaniDry Dehumidifier and Air Purifier was installed. This is one of the best solutions provided by Dry Guys for crawl space humidity. It has an ENERGY STAR rating and a powerful blower to keep the air circulating at a low per pint cost. To finish the project, the floor joist was supported by one of our SmartJack Crawl Space Support Posts. The homeowners were very happy with the work that was done. “Dry Guys were the only company we contacted that offered encapsulation. These guys easily handled every challenge that came with this job. We would give LJ and his crew a 10!”
